These days it seems that new furniture comes in two sizes: large and larger. And more often than not, it comes with a price tag equally large in size.

Who has an extra $800 for an end table? Yikes!  Often we are asked to create custom furniture items to fit a specific space. Usually, it’s because the furniture available in stores is just too large to fit properly in a small room … or, it just won’t fit through the door! This is particularly true in the smaller homes so common in older Kansas City neighborhoods.

Many of our customers need functional furniture that they just can’t find anywhere, and sometimes the best solution is to start from scratch with a custom-built piece. This is especially true when it comes to custom built cabinets for irregularly-shaped kitchens, bookshelves for living rooms or basements with low ceilings, or uniquely shaped tables for home offices and other work spaces.

Everything about this project was unique to the home and the homeowner, from the size and placement of the island, to the paint color, and we think it turned out perfectly!
